Union Square Park

Union Square Park is a small courtyard located two blocks from us. It can be hit or miss for Fall foliage, but when it’s a hit, it’s a HIT! Expect to see beautiful golden hues almost painting brownstones. This is a great place to go for a brief stroll that uplifts your day. Your quickest Fall fix!

Newbury Street/Commonwealth Avenue Mall

Walking Distance: 15 minutes (to Newbury St) and 21 minutes to Commonwealth Avenue Mall

Newbury Street is a great shopping destination. Here you’ll find several streets lined with local and national clothing brands, furniture shops, dining options, and more. Expect to see some accents of Fall colors throughout the streets. Parallel to Newbury Street is Commonwealth Avenue. Stroll to Commonwealth Avenue Mall (located on Commonwealth Avenue) for beautiful nature against the backdrop of historic brownstones. This is a beautiful walkway to add to your agenda. If you are looking for a classic New England Fall photo, this is a great destination for taking pictures that captures the historic feel of Boston.

The Boston Commons

Walking Distance: 18 minutes from The Upton

The oldest city-park in the United States is a lovely spot to soak in Fall. The Boston Commons is a large park full of beautiful nature and scenic views. This is a wonderful spot for an afternoon stroll, picnic, or even just sitting down and reading a book. Enjoy lunch on Newbury Street and then head to the Boston Commons for a pleasant activity with minimal planning required. The Commons is located at the end of Newbury Street.

Charles River Esplanade

Distance: 25 minutes from The Upton

The Charles River Esplanade is an expansive state-owned park overlooking The Charles River. This leafy spot combines both foliage and beautiful water views. The park spans 3 miles long and is a great destination for a walk, run, and bikeride. This spot is farthest from The Upton but it is worth the walk. It’s also an easy 12 minute car ride. Parking is limited so we would recommend not bringing a vehicle.
